We have a summer place in the northern Kettle Moraine State Forest in
Sheboygan County and as I mentioned in an earlier post, the Barred Owls have
been calling as soon as it’s dark. Home in Brown Deer in Milwaukee County I let
the dog out just before 8pm tonight and heard 2 Great Horned Owls calling back
and forth across my back yard, which is bordered by 70’ pines. I usually hear
them through the window around 2-3am, so this, too, is slightly unusual.
