and tonight we saw both of them arrive back near the house and proceed to
wipe their beaks back and forth on the pine tree bark. They both held
material in their beaks, and with binoculars it looked a lot like tufts of
rabbit fur or something similar. One would also wedge it in the bark and
peck at it, then pick it up and continue to rub it on the bark. Then one
proceed to bring it in the nest box. It looked a lot like when I have seen
birds clean their beaks after eating something.
Wondering if anyone has seen anything like this before.
