Lost Creek Wildlife Area LCWA continues to be productive for waterfowl despite much nearby hunting. And that may be why an immature N. Goshawk made an appearance there today. The N. Goshawk made a low pass along the east side of Duck Lane and moved to the large woodlands to the south. Slow flapping and size are always a clue with a immature Goshawks and this robust bird had those along with a strong whitish eye-line, broad tail, and pale lines across upper-wing. This was one of four raptors species at LCWA the next best being a "friendly" Merlin capturing dragonflies with amazing ease. Also had the first Pine Siskins in the County.
