I went searching for the Northern Hawk Owl and failed again - my husband had seen one of the Ospreys in a tree near the Tower Storage Area so presume it is nesting up there and perhaps this has been the reason for not finding the Owl in its old haunts. It was reported last week as being seen in a Cedar Tree near the corner of Porcupine Rd. and Hy 42 so I toured that area as well as the Lutheran Church. Perhaps it has moved out of the area all together. My first Y.B. Sapsucker at the Ellison Bay Park - the Bay itself is still ice-covered except for some small spots but no Waterfowl were observed. Also FOY Cowbird - have not yet heard a wren. Plenty of C. Grackles and R.W. Blackbirds coming to the feeders alas but lots more bird song around which is nice to hear. The Juncos are still here.
