Lots of new arrivals the last 3-4 days, but I haven't had a chance to go warbler hunting yet. Here are a few newbies that AREN'T warblers: Far northern Door County (Ellison Bay/north) ---------------------------------------------- Ovenbird Cedar Waxwing Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds (3 arrived in the last 48 hrs!) Peninsula State Park today ---------------------------------------------- Brown-headed Cowbirds - HUGE influx Solitary Sandpiper Eastern Kingbird Baltimore Oriole There is an absolutely stunning mix of flowers blooming @ Peninsula State Park right now. At Welcker's Point, a breathtaking mix of Forget-Me-Nots, Bellwort and Big White Trillium are all blooming at their peak; there isn't a square inch of ground that doesn't have something blooming! Combined with the newly-leafed out trees and shrubs, it is absolutely jubilant. :) The Forget-Me-Nots are at their peak right now throughout the park and paint a pale blue cloud in this pretty patchwork on the forest floor. :) Trilliums are co-mingled with them everywhere. Along Skyline Road and Shore Road, near Svens Bluff, you will find Periwinkles, Lily Of The Valley, and Forget-Me-Nots mixed together. Finally the Dwarf Lake Irises are also blooming throughout the Weborg Marsh/Weborg Point area. You'll have great luck finding them near Sunset Trail and Hemlock Trail in the Weborg Marsh area. Just wander around. :) I've never seen the flowers blooming in this order nor this fervently at Peninsula before. If you can snag loose from work and visit in the next week, it'd be well worth the sight! =) Karin Hankwitz Liberty Grove Northern Door County Twitter: @dcnaturenut #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
