Just to add on to Margaret’s post…
I believe I made my first positive ID on a Nashville Warbler this morning on
the shores of Lake Onalaska at the refuge overlook on Brice Prairie. But I’m
no expert, so skepticism is understood.

Sitting in my windowseat this afternoon, overlooking the backyard (totally
perennial flowers; no grass) and nearby bird feeders, I noticed a small bird
with a yellow belly and throat, gray head and back, and white eyering. It
checked out several of the flowers, then the feeder area, and finally
perched a foot from my window! Nashville Warbler! What a treat! Then
noticed some motion in the spruce tree at the back of the yard. Grabbed the
binoculars... a Ruby-crowned Kinglet flitting about after gnats! Migration
is definitely underway here! : )
