Hey Folks, I'm partnering with Bonnie Sample (MN Breeding Bird Atlas Coordinator) to do some hard-core bird atlasing in Pine County, MN the weekend of June 17-19. The MNBBA is in its third year and they have a few counties that they'd like to fill in some data gaps on. Since most of us are suffering from Atlas withdrawal AND we'll be re-starting our WI Atlas in a few years I thought it might be fun to travel across enemy lines and really show them how we do it here! Details: When - Friday (afternoon) June 17th - Sunday morning June 19, 2011. Where - Pine County MN with lodging in Sandstone, MN at the Northwoods Audubon Center. http://www.audubon-center.org/ I'm looking to recruit 9 additional cheeseheads so that we can have 4-5 teams scouring a few chosen blocks. This is a border county and there will likely be some atlasing opportunities along the St. Croix River. I'm especially looking for folks who are interested in taking an active role in the next WI atlas as a county coordinator....but it's not required! Pine County is a great area with access to boreal habitats, big forests, wetlands, rivers and ag lands. It's river across the river from Crex Meadows, so one could always combine this trip with a jaunt to the COOLEST birding area in WI. Backchannel me with interest and questions about additional details, etc. Thanks!
