Yeah...spring is here and the nets were opened today. Quite slow today; nonetheless, great to get out into the field. Species captured include: ruby-crowned kinglet, American robin, and Northern cardinal. One cardinal was banded on 4 May 2010, and another on 24 May 2009! Very exciting. Next banding sessions will be Tues. the 19th and Wed. the 20th, weather permitting. Species observed yesterday and today include: brown headed cowbird, numerous ruby-crowned kinglets, hermit thrush, yellow-rumped warlbers, belted kingfisher, pied-billed grebes, American crows, house finches, red-bellied woodpecker, downy woodpecker, black-capped chickadee, common grackles, Eastern Phoebe, tree swallows, barn swallows, great horned owls, Northern flicker, yellow-bellied sapsucker, and killdeer copulating!
