So much for that experiment. I was going to try to run the biennial Madison Audubon field trip to Horicon in April this year, to take advantage of the Old Marsh Rd. being open for hiking this weekend for Earth Day activities (normally it's only open from June-August, and then over winter when the entire marsh is open for access.) However, given the fairly dreary, windy forecast for this Sunday, plus the relative lack of bird diversity due to the late spring, I'm going to postpone the trip to a later date, either to its usual mid-May slot, or possibly early June, when the Old Marsh Rd. will be open again and the regular nesters will all be back.
