I got a late start ,but went for an owl walk at the Badfish WA. I wasn't seeing or hearing anything, so being1/2 mile from anyone I tried my Long-eared call. After a couple minutes, I turned and an owl was coming across the field, straight for me. I could tell it was either a Long-eared or Short-eared as it passed close by. It perched on top of a spruce. This was 6:15 ,and even though binoculars my view wasn't that clear. But I could make out ears that were longer than a short-eared. The owl flew off. After a bit I started calling again. This time it headed right for my head. I was by a small scrubby tree and I imagine my stocking cap looked a bit like an owl. The owl turned right before me. It flew around the spruce grove and then landed in the middle of a tree. As I was hiking back the owl circled around me and was hunting the field. It didn't bounce up and down like a short-eared, but was very light on the wing.
