Today we at long last had time to look for the Lewis' Woodpecker. After some
waiting and spotting many house sparrows and others we were approached by the
county cop who told us the people in the farmhouse wanted no more birders
sitting on the public road peering at their house and feeders. So we left!
We found many Bald Eagles on the Mississippi, also much waterfowl including
Canvasbacks, Buffleheads and Canada Geese. On a wooded back road someone had
set up a nice feeding station. We saw 3 species of woodpecker, Titmouse,
Purple Finch, Am. Tree Sparrow, Blue Jay, and a black squirrel. The man who
probably set up the feeding station came by and was hand feeding Chickadees!
Nice time
