There was a LEAST SANDPIPER at the third pond of Nine Springs this afternoon.
It seemed to be a juvenile with darker colors than a non-breeding adult. The
small sandpiper had a slightly drooping bill and greenish legs. Several
pictures were taken, but I have not set up a way to post them at this time.
Back-channel me if you have an interest in seeing them.
A MERLIN also showed up. It perched on an information board of the viewing
platform near the third pond. A couple of pictures of this bird were also taken.
A third species new to me this season was the AMERICAN BLACK DUCK. There were
a pair in the third pond.
