WI birders, This morning I detected two singing Kentucky Warblers at the Kickapoo Valley Reserve. Within the same area, one of my technicians (Heather Llanas) found two Cerulean Warblers. To locate the Kentucky - If you have a map of KVR: In the northern portions of the Reserve, locate Bridge 9. Roughly 0.5 miles north of Bridge 9 on the main road (State Hwy 131) is a small creek that eventually drains into the Kickapoo River at Bridge 8. Along this small creek drainage, a Kentucky can be located roughly 0.7 miles to the west from Hwy 131. Another male is located 350 meters to the west of the first Kentucky up the same drainage. The best trail to hike to their locations is the multi-use trail, 0.4 miles north of Bridge 9. Park in the designated area (which is a corn-field - you'll need to go up a small dirt road to actually get to this) and head west along the trail. About 0.5 miles up the trail turn your attention to the north (in the direction of the drainage) and listen for the Kentucky's song. The trail forks to the right where you can go down and take a closer look. An ebird report for the morning follows. Good Luck!
