Hi Again, It was somewhat slower today at the watch, particularly in the second half of the morning with fewer Canada Geese to bolster the numbers todays. There were a number of highlights however including what would seem to be an early White-winged Scoter. There were a small number of Horned Grebes on hand sitting on the water as well as flying by and at one point, an American Bittern flew in off the water looking a bit out of place. A number of passerines also appeared from over the lake during the day; mainly thrushes and warblers but I noted a Great Crested Flycatcher as well. Other highlights were an adult Great Black-backed Gull that appeared near the end of the count and a Mourning Warbler that spent the better part of the morning foraging in the jewelweed and brambles along the roadway across from the watch shelter.
