My husband and I went to Goose Pond this afternoon. Saw a pair of Sandhill cranes in a field on the way. There were also at least 24 Sandhills by the east pond at Goose Pond, dozens of Canada geese and a few Cackling geese, 2 Killdeer, 2 grackles, and a Bald eagle flew over and landed on the west pond and then flew off. Also saw 6 Sandhill cranes in the tall grass on the north side of the west pond, though 3 of them flew over from the east pond. There were dozens of Canada geese, and some ducks and maybe Mergansers. We didn't have a scope, so could not accurately identify them since the open water was on the far north end. There were 2 male Redwing blackbirds calling to each other, and a male pheasant crossed the drive that runs to the house. And a lot of geese flying overhead. It's definitely spring. - Genie Ogden Madison, WI #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
