I was happy to find the Pileated Woodpecker back at my feeder just now. It
seems like this bird has garnered a lot of attention from other birds. I
saw no less than 3 Hairy Woodpeckers, 3 Downey Woodpeckers and 1 Red-Bellied
Woodpecker within a few trees of it as she pounded away yesterday. Today I
saw a number of cardinals flying around and landing in very close proximity
to her, usually within 3 or 4 feet of her, with other smaller birds like
chickadees and nuthatches nearby as well. They all seem to be very curious
about this large intruder making a lot of noise.
