There have been 1 or 2 hermit thrush in my backyard for the last 4 days. So beautiful! They hang around for large portions of the day. They are feeding on the dropped thistle seed on the ground, drinking from the bird bath, taking shelter in one of the bushes. Today, one was eating from the suet feeder and resting on the squirrel baffle. Beautiful eye ring, spotted breast, and a not too darkish rusty tail. Though I have heard the "screeech" call of the thrush in the neighborhood earlier in the winter, I had not actually seen them in the backyard during the winter months.
