The Riveredge Bird Club will hold its annual "Summer Rarities and Nursery Tour" field trip this Sunday. The initial meeting point is the Park and Ride lot at the intersection of Highways 33 and 41 in Allenton. We will leave there at 6 a.m. headed for Horicon but may take advantage of participants' scouting efforts in the past week to make a few interesting stops on our way to the north and west and anticipate arriving on Dike Rd. around 7:30 (but life is never a sure thing). Marbled Godwit, Black-necked Stilts, American Avocet, and a number of other shorebirds have been reported there. We also intend to bird Highway 49 and areas north of the Marsh (a Whooping Crane has been seen in the area) and there is some thought of looking for the Snowy Egret in the Eldorado Marsh at some point. Other suggestions are welcome via email or on Sunday morning, and everyone is welcome. The weather is supposed to be fabulous, and this is always one of our favorite trips. As always, carpooling, a hat, sunscreen, inspect repellent, water and a big lunch are encouraged.
