I had a dismal start to the first of the year. For a long time this morning,
the cold, damp air kept everyone down and our feeders were soulless for quite
some time. Finally, about mid morning, two juncos arrived. They are my
first birds of the year. They were quickly followed by a red breasted
nuthatch who has been showing up more regularly than the white breasted.Â
Since then, business has been more steady but its still not brisk. Â
