The warm weather must have made a difference because despite the drizzly
conditions, the 10 people who showed up to my warbler walk this morning at
Elver were treated to 56 species (compared to the 48 species I had yesterday),
15 species of which were warblers (compared to 8 species yesterday), including
multiple golden-winged warblers, some cooperative magnolia warblers and good
numbers of both chestnut-sided warblers and american redstarts. We were also
treated to several cooperative indigo buntings, a yellow-throated vireo, a
lincoln's sparrow, a pair of great-horned owls and a surprise scarlet tanager
that I accidentally found while looking for a blue-headed vireo. This was
easily the best day of birding I've had at Elver park all year. Hopefully
tomorrow will be just as good. The full ebird list is below.
