Had to get out of the house after a rainy morning and a long nap. I
took a drive around my area first stop was the flooded farm field just
north of my place. BLACK DUCKS, MALLARDS AND AM. WIGEON A nice start
to my trek. I was cruising along checking out the the flooded fields
when I noticed a movement on a electrical pole, I saw a long tail and
turned around as quickly as a could. Bins up and it was a PEREGRINE
FALCON! while not a yard bird it was in my block. I was able to get
the scope on it and get a band number off the bird. Black band right
leg 49W it read. Around the next corner on Catbird Rd were about 50
tundra swans and more ducks. East of Reeseville on "J" held GADWAL,
WIGEON,RINGNECK,SHOVELER,PINTAIL,BLACKDUCK and many MALLARDS.
Shawhill Rd on the northside of Shaw Marsh Wildlife Area held WHITE
FRONTED GEESE,TUNDRA SWANS,WIGEON,PINTAILS,
WIGEON were the bird on the day just about everywhere.
