Started out today walking the north field at Brooklyn SWA, with Wade Mapes. We
spent 2 hours, just in the far back field. We saw 60 Lapland and found 1
Smithâs Longspur. We had heard ( I had better hearing aids in) what we
believed to be a Smithâs, but couldnât locate it. Later, same area, we
flushed one and had not that good of a look.
Got home and saw that Kyle had found a male Ruff, which I headed out and got.
Thanks Kyle. There was also a Golden Plover, which was a FOY bird.
From there I stopped on Cty V. Several Yellow-headed Blackbirds and 1 W-f
Ibis. This ibis didnât have the white border , but did have a red eye and red
tone in the facial skin.
At Goose Pond there was a Black-necked Stilt on the eastside of the east pond.
Over on Harvey Road, north of DM, thereâs a pond way out in the middle of
the field. I got the scope out and there were 15 Golden Plovers.
The Red-necked Grebe was seen , from Harvey Road, at the Harvey/ Wangsness
Pond.
