On a beautiful mild evening at around 8-8:30PM ‘peenting’ of woodcocks could
be heard everywhere. Birds kept rising into the air and making big loops before
descending back into the prairie. At one point a bird landed right in front of
us on the mowed lawn just off of the parking lot.
