I do not know about the Cooper's, but it sounds like the finch has avian pox

Subject: [wisb] Cooper's hawks / House finch

Hi all -

Just two observations of note recently in our backyard woodland.

For the last two weeks we have had daily incessant crying by a family of
young Cooper's hawks. I do not know if they are still begging the parents
for food, but they certainly are persistent about it.

Also, last week I observed a female house finch at our feeders that had a
marble sized growth on its "forehead". It was just above the bill and almost
centered between the eyes. It was the same color as the normal feathering of
the bird.

Does anyone have any  thoughts on either of these issues?
