Good evening,
I made it up to Crex Meadows SWA at the end of June. I was able to see the
kite that was originally found on 6/15. I think I heard it was only the 6th
state record. It would hang around a group of tamarack trees, just south of
the pump house, on Main Dike Rd (45.859501, -92.596818). Those coordinates
should put you right at the tree that it sits in. The last eBird report of
it was on 7/5, but I would think it's still around. It seemed very
comfortable and was eating quite well. Photos can be seen at the link below.
