This WE, I had 7 fox sparrows under the feeders plus 1 white throated sparrow plus the usual suspects. A quick survey of surrounding farm ponds and marshes yielded good numbers of greater yellow legs; ducks were not numerous but there were all three mergansers, buffleheads, shovelers, green wing and blue wing teal, 1 lesser scaup, ring necks and mallards; pied bill grebes and geese. The most interesting behavior was at the Lauritzen Marsh: two trumpeters were just hanging out - two more flew in and all four started courtship behavior - interesting - maybe about claiming territory?? By Sunday there were lots of hermit thrushes. - Susan Anderson, Burnett Co. #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
