I spent most of the morning checking several birding spots. Starting at the
Anderson sod farm in Winnebago and Outagamie counties,I found the best spot
was on the north side of Winnegamie Rd which is Outagamie co. Present in a
small puddle in the sod were 7 species of shorebirds plus the Buff-br.
Sandpiper which was off by itself. Other birds were Least, Semip. , Spotted,
Solitary, Pectoral Sandpipers, Lesser Yellowlegs and of course Killdeer. The
Buffy was seen only briefly as I rechecked the spot. It then flew off to the
west part of the field. Due to cloudy and foggy conditions I could not
relocate it. My next stop was Lakeside Park in Fond du Lac. The Com. Shelduck
was seen on the lake side. My last stop was Horicon Marsh, which to me
continues very quiet, except for âstandardâ species. There is almost no
shorebird habitatâonly single Lesser and Greater Yellowlegs were seen. I do
not know if there is shorebird habitat along the Old Marsh Rd as I have yet
walked it. Good luck.
