Hello, Four of us birded BVG this morning from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Here are the highlights.
Going through Wautoma about 7 a.m. we had an E. Bluebird on a power wire at
Hwy 21 & Townline Rd near El Popo Restaurant.
We confined our BVG search to Co. Rd F (on the west), Mill St (south), Taft
(east), and Lake (north).
Our first Snowy Owl was on Co. Rd W on the north/south stretch that
parallels I-39. It was on a cranberry farm structure 20 yds from us.
Our second of 4 Snowies was also on "W" on the north side, about 1/2 way
between Taft & Townline Rds. It was on a power pole along the edge of the
road.
We got a 3rd Snowy on Lake about half way between Townline & Taft. That
bird was a good quarter of a mile south of Lake sitting on a fence post.
The 4th Snowy Owl we saw was between Elm & Townline E/W, and between "W" &
Swamp N/S. That bird was also on a fence post.
We got a N. Shrike 200 yds south of Mill St on Elm, and a second Shrike in
the more traditional place of Swamp & Farmers Rds.
Two Red Tailed Hawks, and 7 Rough Legged Hawks. Only 3 Horned Larks. No
Buntings or Redpolls.
A perfect day out there this morning.
