This Boreal Owl was photographed by a homeowner in the town of Barnes along the
Bayfield/Douglas County line on Saturday, February 9. Freezing rain and some
snow on Sunday along with some impending cold later this week may cause more
Boreals to hunt diurnally in the days ahead.

This is Wisconsin's 4th confirmed Boreal Owl since autumn. A 5th bird (not
photographed) is pending review by the WSO Records Committee.
