Had a pair of adult bald eagles this afternoon. They were perched in an ash on the edge of the flowage (still drained). It is the tallest of the trees that rings the pond, so they stood out nicely. Only there for ~10 mins. I've had them as flyovers but this is the first record for perched birds. Flowage mudflats had 2 g-yellowlegs and 5 solitary sands. Why isn't this pair of eagles nesting right now? Floaters/taking the year off?
