A friend and I made a run up to Horicon Marsh this morning and found the Avocet just past the pumphouse, north of 49, but far back. Jeff Bahls stopped by on his BIGBY tour and helped us ID some of the other shorebirds, which have been mentioned in previous posts. At one point, a Peregrine Falcon stirred them all up, the Avocet included, and then zipped across the road right in front of us. We eventually refound the Avocet which had come in a little closer for better viewing. Jeff mentioned he'd seen Cattle Egrets along Oak Center Rd, so we headed over there and found 8 of them in a farm field, near some cows. This was about a half mile past Breakneck Rd as you continue north on Oak Center. We took a quick look down Ledge Rd and saw a pair of Trumpeter Swans at the end. No Pelicans were seen. It was a gorgeous day to be out! Anne Moretti Dousman Waukesha Co. #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
