Word hasn't spread on this much but a couple weeks ago a second N. Hawk Owl was seen in near proximity of the Poplar bird, but it's been difficult, at best, to relocate. Yesterday Bruce Bacon (of Iron County fame) was birding the area and found both individuals. The first was in its usual spot near Bayfield And Wiehe Rds outside of Poplar. The second bird (which technically could be a different/third one) was ~5 miles to the northeast along Cty F at the intersection with Pellman and Jarvi Rds. This is several miles north of Maple and less than a mile south of Hwy 13. Exact coordinates are 46.64152, -91.72135. Bruce also mentioned that he toured large areas of Douglas County west to the MN border and including Superior/WI Pt without seeing any other owls. Thanks for the report, Bruce!
