We stopped in yesterday for lunch at Spider Lake Saloon around 1:30, within 10 minutes four adults flew in feasting at suet & seed feeders. As we sat eating our lunch, 3 immatures flew in too - it was fun identifying the 3 young ones, each one still had brown feathers on their faces but the brown patches were different on each bird. Two are close to having complete red faces so some are changing quicker than others. The owner "Bob" tells me they have counted 10 at one time, so this is clearly a hot spot for the Red-headed WP's. He says they stay all summer too! I can't wait to go back! Spider Lake Saloon (HWY 48 to County Road T) just outside of Birchwood, WI - see map below https://www.google.com/maps/place/45°43'37.5%22N+91°34'29.1%22W/@45.727087,-91.574749,13z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x0 And if you go, they have wonderful food and ice cold beer also.
