Join us on Saturday, May 8th to hear urban folk artist Tom Conlon. For more than ten years, Tom has been touring the country and charming audiences with great songs and an intimate, storyteller's style. Tom's songs are reflective ballads, rich with emotional honesty and poetic lyricism, and his music combines elements of traditional folk, soul, and gospel. Come and experience the music that has won over audiences all over the country. You can visit him on the web at www.tomconlonmusic.com Tom is making only a few stops in the northeast this spring. If you're a fan, you'll want to catch him while he's up here - maybe more than once. He'll also be playing practically next door to us at the Centre Coffee Bar on Union Street in Windsor on Friday, May 7th. Live from the Grapevine at Centre Coffee is a monthly event sponsored by the Vineyard Church in Windsor - check it out! We'll open the evening with a set from Wintonbury newcomer Elijah Wyman. Elijah is a young singer/songwriter from Boston's north shore. He's got a bit of an edge and a real nice way with words. You can hear some of his material at www.elijahwyman.com The Wintonbury Coffeehouse is held on the second Saturday of the month at Wintonbury Baptist Church, 54 Maple Avenue, Bloomfield, Connecticut. Starting time is 7:30 p.m., and the doors open at 7:00. There is no charge for admission or refreshments, but a $7 donation is suggested. II. Audio File of the Month - http://www.wintonburycoffeehouse.org/audio.htm "Every Moment" by Maeve. "Save me from ever hurrying past when you walk by." Recorded live at Wintonbury on April 10, 2004. III. Link of the Month - www.treebyleaf.org We're looking forward to hosting Tree by Leaf on June 12th. Visit their web site and see out what's been happening with this remarkable trio. IV. Last Month's Coffeehouse - We had a great time with Maeve and Hitoshi Yamaguchi on April 10th, the day before Easter. Hitoshi charmed us in his opening set, with his thoughtful lyrics and gentle sense of humor. Maeve just keeps getting better, as you can hear on this month's audio file of the month. They sang us some old favorites and some brand-new songs, and brought Hitoshi up on stage to accompany them on bass for a few tunes. About 90 people enjoyed this one along with us. V. Footnote to Last Month's Newsletter - Andrew Springman visited the April 10th coffeehouse at Wintonbury and announced that his band finally has a name - they are now the Yokefellows! (Or was that "Yolkfellows"?) Please visit our web site at http://www.wintonburycoffeehouse.org for a complete schedule of upcoming coffeehouses, information for musicians interested in playing at Wintonbury, and more.
