I aggree totally, should post that whole thing on speakup. I got my bike a few
years ago and just recently had to replace the entire rear wheel because of the
rough roads. Y ou need extreme duty off road bikes for these streets, of course
you need to chain it to a cop so it won't be stolen.

The problem is the location of the bike lanes, right in the door path of parked
cars. Do people look in their mirrors before they open their doors? They don't
look in their mirrors any other time.
Then the lanes just plain vanish at intersections. We already know that
painting lines on the road doesn't keep pedestrians in their place, why would
drivers think any differently because they paint bicycles on the street.
On that point alone - if its gonna be a bike lane, FIX the road first - those
eroded joint craters where two concrete slabs meet, the potholes and uneven
surfaces, the poor drainage resulting in huge puddles and lakes that force
cyclists into the traffic lanes, that's not a bike lane, that's a joke, and not
too damned funny when you're constantly replacing broken wheel spokes.
No wonder so many people ride on the sidewalk

Yeah I saw their wacky bike path ideas. They look fine when there are no cars
on the road but fill the roads with cars, trucks and buses trying to turn left
and right all over the place and suddenly the bike lanes stolen from cars are
not so good anymore. Their ideas are flawed as they assume bike paths to be
dedicated to bikes. What a utopian vision. It would be fun to see it happen and
then see some wheelchairs or other group start using the path and demanding
space on it, regardless if incompatible. Vicious cycle.
Downtown foot patrols are good. Yesterday I watched in amusement a couple of
drunks near here they couldn't even stand. Some passersby tried to help them up
but it wasn't to be. Perfect time for the red shirts to show up. Better to have
them there than not and they don't bother me when taking pictures.

This whole thing is run by city BIZ, so they likely don't care how many bus
seats there are.
Remember the ad buses? They plug things like bike paths, downtown patrols and
more stores.

Would this be a good place to voice our concerns with insufficient seating
capacity on WT? They would not likely like what I have to say as my comments
are rarely politically correct/left wing. Do you guys have any interest in
commenting?
