One thing that has always (and they did retrofit 48 with the signs from 204, so
they know it can be done) bothered me about these rebuilds is that they could
pull out the MgaMax flip-dot signs and replace them with Luminator Horizons
under a Luminator trade-in program.
They know the flip dot signs are very hard to read at night until it's right
next to you, whereas Luminators can be seen from a great distance.
So what's the holdup?
Also, the rear signs in 497 and 485 look to be in perfect condition which is
odd because the rear module is usually destroyed in a fire.
The interior rear caps on both buses also look like nothing at all happened,
which is unlikely.
My video of the 497 fire shows the firemen shoving the hose in through the rear
r/h window, but there is absolutely no evidence of any damage inside. Very odd.
You can see that the window glass has been changed, as it's watermarked "Speedy
Auto Glass" which is most certainly NOT New Flyers' glass supplier.
It's VERY difficult to remove smoke damage from the rear air intake grill, yet
it shows no sign whatsoever of having been damaged.
Very odd. It took them over two years to fix 497, so it's not just a matter of
replacing an engine and some wiring.
