With all the reroutes and whatnot getting pictures downtown is difficult,
though not impossible. What I find truly amazing is that this sort of
reorganization would cause total chaos in any other city; Winnipeg bus riders
seem to be resigned to the fact that nothing is ever as it seems. Personally, I
think the Graham Mall is a huge waste of time - either synchronize the lights
and add transit priority, move the stops to mid-block, and get rid of the cars
along the entire length or move everything back to Portage.
So we have four more years of Sam Katz: the man who cannot seem to get anything
done - traffic light synchronization (not done) wave pool (not done), Transit
improvements (not done) BRT (not done) buffer zones, the Disreali Bridge rehab,
and on and on and on.......under Sammy nothing ever seems to get done. The Free
Press had an item a few days back which compared infrastructure funding by
various cities; the average was $1000 per citizen, but Winnipeg spent just
$500.....
Well, it's that time of year again...the annual "jack the bus fare up again".
Will it be a nickel, a dime, or will he go for the big one and jack transit
fares up to $2.50 per ride?
We'll find out any day now........
