Yesterday morning 605 broke down near Portage Place and Carlton and was
stuck there for quite some time. They attempted to bring it back to life
and eventually had to tow it away. Poor bus. I hope we'll see it again.
Had 390 this morning on 22, lots of room to be had by all and no musical
chairs/stepping on feet.
Last night had bloody 574 on 22. I looked at the seating plan. When you
consider the psychological barrier presented by the raised part of the
rear, and that between 6 and 10 seats at the front always seem to be
claimed for "priority" passengers, that leaves between 8 and 12 seats for
everyone to cram into, plus the three squished seats facing the rear door,
making the total between 11 and 15 seats. Hardly adequate for a rush hour
40' bus. Cripes I've seen Orion IIs with more seating than that. Contrast
this to a D40 where the floor is the same height front to back and you
quickly feel like there is lots of seating available. And there is.
