[windows2000] Windows 2000 Registry Permissions

Hi,
This one makes me feel dumb :) : I can't set permissions for Creator/Owner =
on registry keys, after applying full control, the box unchecks itself.
Yes, I'm using an administrative account, I've removed inheritance copying =
settings, the particular key is HKLM>Software>Intel but I have tested =
others with the same result.
Ideas on a postcard.
