This is way beyond cool...the future of web plugins?

Macromedia Centralizes Applications

Macromedia has been steadily trying to extend the reach of its Flash player,
and Macromedia Central carries that strategy forward by liberating Flash
from the confines of the Web browser. Users can download and install the
free Central client, and after downloading applets, called pods, run them
independent of a browser. These little applications can collect data from
multiple servers, so, for example, one of the free sample programs
aggregates theater information from Fandango.com, movie reviews from the
Rotten Tomatoes site, and DVD information from NetFlix, making a seriously
nifty little entertainment resource. Macromedia hopes to encourage much more
development of this type and beyond. Read about some of the other clever
apps and learn more about Central.

To see this in action go to:

Download the Hotspot finder and it will install Central for you.
