[windows2000] Synching DCs

Hi list,
I have 1 real W2K domain controller at home for my home network.
Additionally, I have a virtual DC (VMWare) that I boot up once a month to
let it synch up any domain changes that may have occurred. This virtual DC
is really just a backup in the event my physical DC dies and I have to build
a new one. So, my questions are, is booting up this second DC and letting
it run for a few minutes enough? Is there a way to check to see if it's
synched up all changes? Is there something I have to or should perform
manually? Anything else I should know?
