Also, in the w2k resource kit there's a utility called "sc.exe" that can be used from the command line. I use it all the time to stop services on nt4 computers. I believe it's in the NT4 RK as well. Just click the = workstation you want then choose "Services" from the File menu. -----Original Message----- From: Jim.Walls@xxxxxxx [mailto:Jim.Walls@xxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, August 27, 2002 9:45 AM To: windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [windows2000] NT4 remote service question Howdy, This is an NT4 question, but I suspect there is someone on this = list that can come up with an answer. I suspect that this is one of those = that when someone comes up with the answer, I'm going to hit myself on the forehead and yell "DUH!", but I'm going blank on this one... I have a bunch of NT4 (service pack 3) workstations and I need to stop and then restart a service running on one of them across the LAN. = I have the built in NT admin tools, but I do not have remote control = software such as VNC or Tivoli. I can easily start and stop services locally, = but I'm trying to avoid needing to drive to the remote location. I do also have the option of having the end user restart the computer, but that's = a bit of a hassle (because of the way they use these workstations) so I'm trying to come up with a way around that.
