Turning off Windows Update does not modify the EULA. Since the =
mechanism by=20
which M$ can download or upload information to your computer is not=20
specified in the EULA, they needn't be restricted to just Windows Update =
for=20
assaulting your privacy.

I have the update feature turned off on all the computers I am =
responsible=20
for, but I still feel exposed.

In the short term, there is almost nothing you can do about this EULA =
except=20
maybe register your complaints with the Monolith in Redmond. I think =
sys=20
admins who are not investigating alternatives to M$ operating systems =
are=20
failing to do their job. After all, there is a best tool for every job. =
=20
Sometimes it's M$ software, sometimes it's not.

I work in a very heterogeneous environment, so for my client system, the =

best decision (I think) is an OS X Mac. Basically, it allows me to do=20
everything I usually do on a Windows machine and has all the Unix tools =
that=20
I need as well.

Of course, after reading these emails, I probably ought to go back and =
check=20
Apple's EULA....
