[windows2000] Dual NIC server

We have a server with two NIC's. One is in our DMZ with a public IP address.
The other is on our LAN. The default gateway is entered for both interfaces,
but the default gateway "disappears" (shown by ipconfig /all) on the LAN
interface, but stays intact on the DMZ. Is this by design? Is there a way to
actually have both stick around?
