It's all relative to function of application/OS, the hardware being = used, etc... Is increasing the cluster size (512k to 4096k for example) on a Volume = that resides on a RAID subsystems that is setup for 64k-128k block going = to make a noticable difference? Probably not. Using a 4k cluster size for your AD Database, and 8k for cluster size = for the log files can improve performance on a RAID 5 subsystem = (write-thru enabled). 10 users, no improvement. But for a 1000 users, = yes. Some tweaks, optimizations are not noticable until the system/subsystems = limits are pushed. Joe -----Original Message----- From: Charles R. The guy changed them anyway and things seem to have basically = stayed the same. Maybe it's because he didn't do the things you listed? >-----Original Message----- >From: windows2000-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >[mailto:windows2000-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Joe Shonk >Sent: Tuesday, October 08, 2002 10:53 AM >To: windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >Subject: [windows2000] Re: large number of files in folder, slow lan >acces s > > >Optimized NTFS Cluster Size --- It's lights OUT for you viruses!
