In the old days, people used to use Goldwave to convert the audible files.
I am not sure if it works with later versions, but you could (in days of
yester year) load a file into Goldwave and simply convert it to MP3.  I
wonder if it still works? I wonder if people have old versions of Goldwave 
(5.0 and earlier I believe.)

there is a way to convert audible books to mp3's so that winamp will play
them but i have no idea how to do it but i do know it can be dun. hth. from

In a frew more words, it depends on the format of the book. In 90% of the 
cases, yes. But if you're talking about books from audible.com, then no,
Winamp won't play them.
