To get to the general options of Winamp, you can press either ctrl-p, or ctrl-o for the preferences. Once there, you will be put in a treeview. Use your up and down arrows to get to the General options. The General options are the second option down from the top.

The option says, check for new versions of Winamp at startup.
Uncheck that box and you are good to go. either that, or just download the latest update, that's another way to get it to go away, smile
