I think the reason Windows Media player might be coming up is that it still thinks it's supposed to play cd's. You told Winamp to play them, but Windows Media ain't hearing that. so you have to go into windows Media player and then go to tools, and then options. Next go to the file types tab and make sure that anything relating to playing cd's is unchecked. Then press Ok and then close Windows Media player. Next, put a cd in the player and see what happens. If you're using xp, there should be a little list of options that comes up and one of them *should* be, play audio cd, using Winamp. If that box doesn't appear, Winamp should come up anyways because you basically told Windows Media to not play your cd's anymore. Hope that helps.

Did that and also check restore file preferences when started, when I go into preferences no associate files comes up after hitting all and close.

Hello, hit control p, in file types there is a check box that says use winamp to play cds.
If its not checked hit space, go all the way to the close button.
