When I can't use Winamp

Hi, gang! An odd thing is happening I'm wondering if I might get some help
with. I had to download Microsoft Media Player to access some sites that
Winamp, my default program, seems to not be able to open, or so says
Internet Explorer. Things were going well; I was able to play those things
in Windows Media Player. Last night I was playing some mp3's on Winamp.
When I treid to access this stream that only Windows Media Player can open,
it wouldn't open it. I got that message that said my default program
couldn't open this file. Any clues? Is there some setting on either
program I can use to make sure I can access all my media programs? I have
real player, Winamp and now Windows Media Player.
