Hi guys. A few things. First, the transcoder uses Winamp's encoder plugins as its available transcodable formats. If you want more formats, go to the Winamp web site and download more encoder plugins. Second, I do agree also that it is a bit counter-intuitive to need to use the media library to access the transcoding feature, but, at the same time, no one is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to use it either. There are tons of other programs out there that will do format conversions, and you could just as easily use one of them if you don't like the way that Winamp chose to implement this functionality. Third, as to people's opinions of the media library in general, remember that not everyone uses Winamp the same way. As an Internet broadcaster, I find the media library to be an invaluable tool for finding requests quickly and cuing them up for playback. So, the media library does have merit, even if it doesn't fulfill a specific need that you have. --Bob Original Message: ----------------- From: Ron Canazzi aa2vm@xxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Wed, 22 Nov 2006 11:39:20 -0500 To: winamp4theblind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Transposition Utility Works Hi List, The transposition utility does work quite well. The major drawback is that I see only 10 choices for conversion and really only 4 basic formats: mp3, wave, ACC and WMA. Now this would be great if you downloaded a large number of wave files and wanted to convert them to a compressed lossless (allegedly) format. But as a quick converter from multiple formats to other formats, I feel it has limited use. It is however, a start and maybe they'll add more format choices in the future. -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web - Check your email from the web at http://mail2web.com/ .
